Recipient Criteria for Nomination

The winner of the Community Spirit Award should have an ongoing commitment to Cheyenne.

A person who shows the commitment to our community that was first exemplified by early newspaper owner and Cheyenne Frontier Days co-founder, Colonel E. A. Slack. Colonel Slack took it upon himself to develop and promote a community event that would benefit everyone in Cheyenne.

A Cheyenne resident who has, over a period of time, exhibited a spirit of helping the community.

The ideal candidate:

  1. Demonstrates long standing community involvement.
  2. Organizes others in the community for events and projects.
  3. Commits to projects lasting a significant period of time.
  4. Dedicates his or her time to several different programs every year, perhaps even sacrificing vacation time.
  5. Has made volunteer work an integral part of his or her life.
